Ice, Ice, Baby | Raleigh, NC Photographer

So as a North Carolina Native, it’s pretty safe to say that I love, appreciate, and accept the fact that this state has the weirdest weather.  We have summer-like weather in January, where I have the opportunity to wear shorts and flip flops like it’s summer time.. and then we get to real winter weather just two weeks later.  And you know what?  The forecast says it’s going to be 70Ëš tomorrow!

Anyways, we had a bit of snow, freezing rain, and sleet on Friday.  It was fun having a workspace at the office where I can see what’s going on outside.. but it was completely distracting seeing all these huge snowflakes falling in the parking lot!  Unfortunately, it quickly turned from pretty flakes into gross freezing rain.  Not fun.  Fortunately, I had the opportunity to leave at lunchtime and work from home for the rest of the day so I wouldn’t get stuck at the office.  It made for a fun afternoon of working from home in my jammies, but MAN has it been cold!  I braved the slick conditions to go out around the yard at my parents’ house to take pictures of the ice.. which was interesting because it wasn’t until about noon when I finally got outside, and by then all of the melting was very  much underway.  It was still fun!  But thank goodness for warm socks and a fireplace once I got back inside.  🙂

I enjoyed our little snippet of winter weather!  Now it’s time to warm up so I can actually enjoy the outdoors again.  Winter is definitely not my season!
